About this property

Built in 1995 by the current owner, a licensed builder of the time, this waterfront home has solid bones and a story to tell. Beneath the house lies a huge concreted garage with 2.7m clearance, complete with laundry and lockable workshop spaceroom enough for all the gear and tinkering a coastal life brings. Set just a short 100m stroll from the ferry in a quiet no-through pocket, it's an easy place to come and go without a carideal for weekenders or a future BnB. Fully fenced for pets and with plenty of scope to make it your own, you'll also find hints of character waiting to shine through, from cypress pine flooring to high ceilings. They call her Flinders View for good reason. From the verandah, you'll spot Flinders Peak rising in the distancemuch as Matthew Flinders might have seen it when first charting these waters. There's a sense here of salt air, stories, and a slower tide. Step aboard and you'll find a quirky, ship-inspired home filled with nautical touches and a warmth that only comes from a place built for oneself. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, with a generous main cabin (bedroom) opening onto the verandah to catch sea breezes and water views. Built-in wardrobes, insect screens throughout, ceiling fan in the main, and thoughtful details like hoop pine benchtops and marine-style cabinetry speak to craftsmanship and care. Solar and solar hot water are already in place, along with a carport for everyday convenience. Down by the waterline, the real magic begins. A private slipway leads straight into Lucas Passage, complete with winch that once hauled a 24ft steamboat ashore. There's a small jetty, a boat shed, and even a lockable "boat port" for a shallow-draft vesselrare features that make this a true boatie's retreat. Add in an aviary ready for chickens, quail or birds, and you've got the makings of a self-sufficient island escape. After many years at the helm, the ownernow in his 80's has decided it's time to drop anchor closer to family, offering this one-of-a-kind home to its next custodian. $680,000 priced to sell as one of the Bay Islands' most affordable true waterfront homes with direct water access. We have about 500 residents and a small community feel compared to the larger suburban islands Russell and Macleay. Most people come here for the peace and quiet. The 1km x 2 km island is small enough that it's not necessary to have a vehicle, and many residents walk, have bikes, scooters or use the community-run Lamb Van public transport. Get your local honey, freshly roasted coffee, organic gardening supplies, local artwork and handmade soap from some of the local small businesses on Lamb. There are many groups and activities to keep you occupied, from Yoga and Pilates classes, Qi Gong, pickleball and tennis, community bushcare days, to trivia nights and pool competitions at the Rec Club. We have town water (which comes from the aquifer below the great sand island North Stradbroke), electricity, NBN internet, public tennis court (with flood lighting for night tournaments!), playground, BBQ and netted swimming area, off-leash dog park, community garden, free rubbish dump, Rural Fire Brigade, Lamb Island Recreational Club/Bar and a small shop. Eat-in or takeaway meals can be had at the Recreation Club or Zac's shop. Woolworths deliver here every day of the week for a delivery fee. There are essentials such as schools, post office, pharmacies, medical centres, hardware stores and cafes on the neighbouring islands Macleay and Russell which are a free 5 minute inter-island ferry away. We are just a 50c fare and 21 minute Translink passenger ferry ride to Redland Bay, Brisbane where there is limited free car parking and the Weinam Creek Development is in the pipeline. The vehicle barge now has a 50% subsidy for residents and is only approx $35 each way leaving from Redland Bay, Brisbane. The Island jetties have recently undergone a multi-million dollar major revamp with the addition of a recreational jetty for fishing and temporary mooring of tenders. The islands are moving ahead and undergoing a building boom which is to be expected for a region only 50 mins to Brisbane City and 50 mins to the Gold Coast. The secret's out and more people are discovering our beautiful islands and the unique lifestyle they offer. Call agent Kat Gawlik (Lamb Island Agent of the Year 2022 - 2026*) for a jetty pick up. 0497 887 953 *Rate My Agent Disclaimer: We have in preparing this information used our best endeavours to ensure that the information contained here is true and accurate, but accept no responsibility and disclaim all liability in respect of any errors, omissions, inaccuracies or mis-statements contained in this document.
