About this property
Expression of interest closes at 1pm on the 17th July 2026. Immersed in local history and dating back to 1857, this remarkable property occupies the site of the original Burnt Creek School, later known as Bromley State School and ultimately Bromley Primary School. Rich in heritage and community significance, the property offers a rare opportunity to secure a landmark site with an extraordinary past. The building is in needing of restoration. There has been some work started, but ultimately needs someone willing to roll up their sleeves for some good TLC. Sitting on a parcel of land approx. 8078m2 that is lightly treed and picturesque. Other dwellings include a weather board shed/room and a storage area and old school urinal. There is a septic tank near the urinal and mains power connected. Established by the Church of England in 1857, the school began as a single-classroom timber building. By 1864, under Thomas Vaughan's leadership, enrolment had grown to 115 students and the school had become a Common School. A permanent stone schoolhouse was built in 1868 and served the community for more than a century. Renamed Bromley State School in 1885 and later Bromley Primary School in 1970, the school celebrated its centenary in 1964 before closing in 1976. Since its closure, the property has undergone significant changes. While it no longer resembles the historic school seen in archival photographs, the site remains an important part of the district's history and presents a unique restoration opportunity. Now ready for a new chapter, the property offers buyers the chance to renovate, restore and reimagine this once-important community landmark back to its former glory.
