About this property
This property offers flood-free privacy with substantial infrastructure. This small acreage has a clean, chemical-free mountain stream that bounds the property. It is a beautiful spot to cool off under the rainforest canopy in the invigorating frigid water. Take a picnic and spend the afternoon. The infrastructure on the property, whilst not yet approved as a permanent home, has the makings of an exquisite, sustainable dwelling. The steel structure is fully engineered and approved as is, and at this stage makes for a brilliant rainforest viewing area. As it is, it is an excellent 18 x 12 metre shed with soaring 6 metre clearance, and a large mezzanine. The steel is fully galvanised, heavy industrial. I can see a modern and contemporary steel and glass, edgy industrial home with views out every window to the rainforest. There is no need for curtains here. The toilet and shower are fully approved and work perfectly. The reliable water supply comes from a very deep (52 m) bore with a submersible pump powered by solar and filling a 47000 litre water storage tank. There is more water than you can use. Additionally, there are two fully approved 6x 6 metre shade sheds. One has a solid block infill, which allows you to use it as a bedroom if staying a few days. The other could be used as a communal kitchen/eating area. There are fruit trees planted throughout, protected year-round raised veggie beds, and a fully enclosed duck or chicken run with a 6ft high chain wire fence to keep any predators out. This is a very special, secluded, but not isolated rainforest retreat. It is bounded by a further 44 Ha of virgin natural rainforest and yet is only 10 minutes to the centre of town. It has all the beauty of the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest without the difficulty of access and isolation. You would be hard-pressed to find another. Contact Michael Skuse
