Hughesdale railway station sits on the Dandenong/Cranbourne/Pakenham line, putting the CBD within easy reach and making the suburb popular with commuters. Buses supplement the rail service, connecting to Chadstone, Oakleigh and surrounding suburbs for those not going into the city.

Road access is also solid, with the Monash Freeway and Princes Highway both accessible nearby, useful for residents commuting by car or heading further south-east.
